MESSAGE FROM GPMC I NMC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
BRETT MCKENZIE

GPMC YEAR IN REVIEW: 2023
2023 was another successful year in the contract maintenance industry across Canada directly attributed to the efforts our members, our signatory employers. Some of the most complex and intricate maintenance turnarounds experienced in Canada were executed under GPMA & NMA Agreements. Thousands of safe, highly skilled and highly trained professionals reported for work, plied their craft and brought these significant events across the finish line. The members of the affiliated Unions are known for their superior skills and performance and once again they rose to the occasion in 2023.
We thank the many Clients who utilize our services and continue to call upon our workforce and employers as their first choice for their long-term and short-term maintenance. Using GPMA & NMA signatory employers for your maintenance activities eliminates risk as we always strive to bring predictability and stability to the worksite.
Most individuals outside our industry do not fully understand what is required to bring a successful turnaround across the finish line. If they were aware of the planning, coordination and skill sets required to execute these enormous events, perhaps then they would finally give the skilled tradesperson the credit our members so deserve. Working with your hands, getting dirty every day, and keeping our industrial facilities safely operating, is an honorable way to earn a living and raise a family.
Major turnarounds are highly orchestrated events driven by safety, productivity and schedule are necessary to keep some of our most important facilities across our country safe and operational. What we accomplish with our contracting partners is incredible to say the least.
On behalf of the GPMC/NMC, we thank every member for their contributions during 2023 and wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
As the GPMC I NMC bids farewell to Jack White, who is retiring from his position as Chairman of the GPMC I NMC, we express our deepest gratitude for his remarkable contributions to the GPMC I NMC. His values and leadership will continue to inspire us long into the future. We are confident that his legacy will endure and shape the foundation for continued success by the GPMC I NMC in unionized maintenance.
